In electronics, a component that is not part of an integrated circuit is known as a separate component. In what I wrote, read. “discrete” a spell checker is not Meaningchecker. With appropriate discretion a colleague told me that he was not a “discretecomponent” but “discrete component”. I checked; He is right. “Discreet” is “understanding” and “discreet” is “singular”.
